For New Writers

Dear Writers,

Years ago, I taught creative writing to young adults and children and enjoyed it very much. While earning my Master of Fine Arts at the University of British Columbia, I took a 3 credit course on Teaching Creative Writing with Dr. Luanne Armstrong.  It was the only course of its kind in Canada. I’ve studied under the tutelage of distinguished writers, Wayne Grady, Sioux Browning, Glen Huser and also M.G. Vassanji through Humber College. My thesis was written under the mentorship of the internationally acclaimed author and Giller nominee, Gail Anderson-Dargatz.

If you have a fiction or nonfiction manuscript that needs refreshing, I encourage you to take a course, find an editor, try a workshop. Develop your abilities. This will help you gain new perspective and see things in a new light. With my tight schedule, I no longer tutor young people or provide manuscript evaluations. But if you send me an email, I may be able to recommend courses, workshops and other excellent writers who may be able help you to develop your particular story.

On this journey, my advice to you is to be brave and follow your heart.  Be guided by spiritual connections, your instincts and intuition.  Keep writing and creating.   Above all, nurture your writing and all those who believe in you.
