This photo accompanied a story I wrote for Canadian Living Magazine when I was starting out in writing and in judo. Gerald Okimura, my instructor (or ‘sensei’) is the one being thrown. During his competitive years, he placed among the top 5 in the world, at the World Kata Judo Championships held in Malta.
I am so very fortunate to have him as a judo coach and mentor today.
